Nov. 10, 2020 - BIRMINGHAM, Ala.: Fledging LLC, famous for their premium Feather SSD upgrade for Mac, launched their Kickstarter campaign for their newest product, Hubble for iPad. Hubble for iPad solves the iPad’s core problems by integrating a data hub and protective case to provide vital ports for the iPad’s USB-C connection in a durable aluminum case that highlights the iPad’s world-famous design. Hubble positions any iPad Pro and the new iPad Air as ultra-mobile replacements for your laptop.
The wildly popular iPad USB-C series has long struggled with two flaws: the single USB-C port forces customers to either give up usability or carry a fleet of unreliable adapters, and the iPad is too easy to bend and break. Hubs on the market offer some connectivity but don’t protect the iPad or perform reliably, and typically drain the battery. Cases on the market protect the iPad but don’t offer connectivity, and often obscure Apple’s legendary design. Hubble solves all these problems by integrating the all-in-one hub with an aerospace aluminum case that celebrates the beauty of the iPad Pro and new iPad Air.
Hubble’s hub connections include a travel switch for saving iPad power when not in use, a USB-C port for charging, a USB-C port for data transfer, a USB-A port for data transfer, an SD card reader, a microSD card reader, a 4K 60Hz HDMI port, and a 3.5 millimeter audio jack for the majority of the world who isn’t ready to be pushed to entirely wireless audio. Taken together, these features equip any user to connect their iPad with their favorite keyboard, mouse, screen, external hard drive, or any other useful tool.
Hubble’s ports support full connectivity with the most popular external data sources, accessories, and form factors
The hub is fully integrated into the aerospace aluminum case, available in silver and space gray to match the iPad. This includes a travel switch for turning off the hub between uses to save power, which most hubs don’t offer. The case includes magnetic charging support for the Apple Pencil and a magnetic folding cover for protecting the iPad or propping it up for easy use. The case also provides a useful handhold since the iPad Pro is one giant screen. Keyboards are fully supported through Bluetooth or wired connectivity and magnetic keyboards easily attach to the case.
“Hubble is a lot more than ‘one small step’ for us as we continue making premium electronics for everyone, so we’re really proud of the spinoff team,” said Ethan Summers, CEO of Fledging. “We want to continue redefining how the entire industry designs products. Every single product should include form, function, and a fair price from the start. We’ve done this with Mac SSDs, SSD enclosures, and now the Hubble team is doing it for the iPad.”
Hubble launched on Kickstarter on November 10, 2020. For iPad Pro 2018-2020, the 11-inch version pre-sells for $80 and retails for $100 while the 12.9-inch version pre-sells for $90 and retails for $110. The iPad Air version pre-sells for $80 and retails for $100. All sizes are available in silver and space gray. The campaign fulfills in February with the product available for general purchase soon after.
